City Commission Mtg. Recap
Commission appointed a committee to meet with the Boys &
Girls Club to review their finances. Committee members will be Commissioners JD
Penny, JD Gonzales, Rene Villafranco, Parks Director Mike Jaramillo, and City
Manager Manuel Lara. 1St meeting is Saturday 19-Jan-13 at 10 a.m.
The Commission approved the 2012 CO (Certificate of Obligation) Street Projects list. Up
next is for the city staff to perform a cost analysis on how many streets we
can afford to repair with the money on hand. I have the street list and I will
post it later when I reformat it to fit
my blog!
Instead of approving the current engineering firm (Coym,
Rehmet & Gutierrez Engineering, L.P.) that has done great work for the city,
the City Commission went into Executive Session and later decided to go into dysfunctional mode again. They don’t
want the current engineering to do the work so now they are going out for RFP
(request for proposals) for engineering services. Just another waste of time and taxpayer
dollars. Un-freaking believable. The commission just went thru this just a little over a year ago.
EDC gave a quarterly report on the San Benito Economic
Development Corporation. I am working on acquiring a copy of the presentation.
Commission approved revisions to the Bylaws for the EDC. I am also acquiring this later.
Commission approved an Agreement between the City of San
Benito and San Benito National Bronco League.
Commission extended until February 28, 2013 the contract
with STEC EMS. They are still discussing a revamped contract for final approval
or denial.
