City Comm recap May 15, 2012

The online edition of the San Benito News has a concise recap of what transpired at the Commission meeting.

The only agenda item I would like to discuss is Agenda Item #7 Consideration and Action on proposed agreement between the City of San Benito and AEP Texas Central Company regarding street light charges.

Apparently, last year the City contracted with a Consultant and AEP to do a complet street light facilities inventory. The end result was that AEP had overcharged the city using an old price structure.

The "Good News" is the City is getting a settlement of $31,189.29

The "Bad News" is the consultant is getting, if I heard correctly, 49% of the settlement.

I really, really would like to know who agreed to this percentage cut for the consultant.

I will have to verify with the City Secretary, but I believe the next step for the Voter approved charter amendments is to be placed on the agenda at the next CC meeting for Commission approval.

It should just be a formality but who knows what the Mayor is thinking.
