Charter Review Committee "Public Hearing"

Don' forget to attend the Public Hearing at the Charter Review Committee at the usual place, City Hall

Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

So far the Review Committee has approved some motions proposing amendments/changes to the City Charter................

1. Amend the Charter to allow the City Commissioners to make appointments jointly with the Mayor as opposed to the current setup where the Mayor makes ALL appointments with the Commission consent and approval.


2. Amend the Charter to allow a "Simple Majority" vote as opposed to "Unanimous" vote to oust or remove an elected official from political office after conviction of "Moral Turpitude"!


3. Amend the Charter to appoint the "Mayor Pro Tem" annually or for a one year term ONLY.


4. Amend City Charter 3.02.(b) Eligibility..... Scratch or delete the requirement that a candidate shall have paid all taxes due the City of San Benito and be free from debt to said City...
